Spektra RF
A desktop spectrum scanner and frequency coordinator — sweep the wireless-mic band on a USB analyzer and place intermod-safe channels in the gaps you actually measured.
On this page
Spectrum scanning and frequency coordination for wireless microphones and in-ear monitors. Plug in a supported USB device, press Space, and a few seconds later you see the UHF band as it really is in your room: what is occupied, what is free, and where your mics and IEMs should go.
Spektra RF is a desktop app for macOS and Windows. It runs entirely on your computer: no account, no cloud, and it works with the internet switched off. That matters on show networks — a Dante or console VLAN with no route to the internet is the normal case, and Spektra RF starts normally on one.
Who it is for
- Freelance FOH and monitor engineers walking into an unknown venue.
- RF techs on small and mid-size tours without a receiver-network rig.
- Festival stages, theatres and houses of worship sharing crowded spectrum.
- Rental companies prepping a kit with a coordination sheet in the case.
What makes it different
- Measured, not assumed. Planning tools coordinate against a database; Spektra RF coordinates against the room you are standing in.
- Three-state occupancy. Your own carriers (green), contention on your channel (amber) and unknown interference (red) — not a single threshold.
- Vendor-neutral, cheap hardware. An RTL-SDR stick at around €40 is the reference device; tinySA, RF Explorer, HackRF, Airspy and SDRplay all work.
- Dozens of device families and 8 regulatory regions — group/channel picks resolve to exact MHz and each device gets a licence verdict.
- Fully offline and private. No telemetry, no cloud; spectrum data never leaves your machine.
- Try it first. Every install runs a 14-day full-feature trial, and a free browser demo on the platform runs the real spectrum view on synthetic data.
Pages in this guide
- Getting started — download, install, first launch, first scan.
- Supported hardware — every supported device, what each one can and cannot do.
- Find a free frequency window — find a free window, use the waterfall, listen, compare scans.
- Register your equipment — register your gear, save lists, keep a history.
- Coordinate a show with the Frequency Advisor — coordinate a show and set your region.
- Export and import — CSV, JSON, Wireless Workbench, the A4 sheet.
- Licence, trial and your data — trial, activation, three computers, and where your data lives.
- FAQ — hardware, internet, accuracy, licensing.
- Troubleshooting — demo mode, Gatekeeper, SmartScreen, blank windows.
Spektra RF is paid: €49, bought once on Gumroad. The key unlocks the download on your Squaresmile account and licenses the app itself — see Licence, trial and your data. Spektra RF is not a lab analyzer: it reads relative occupancy and finds the windows.
