WidthForge
Four-band stereo width that stays mono-safe — see how many dB each band loses in mono, keep every band in phase with one switch, zero latency.
On this page
WidthForge 2 is a desktop audio plugin (VST3, AU and a standalone app), not a browser tool. It splits your signal into four bands — Bass, Mids, Mid-High and Highs — and sets the stereo width of each one from 0 % (mono) to 400 %. Width only scales the Side signal, so the mono sum of your mix never changes. Keep the lows centred, focus the mids, open up the top.
The meters show what that does to mono compatibility: for every band and for the whole mix, the correlation and how many dB are lost when the mix is summed to mono, before and after.
Who it is for
- Live FOH and monitor engineers with a stereo mix going to a mono PA, fills or delays. WidthForge adds no latency and runs inside a live host such as Live Professor.
- Mix and mastering engineers who want width that survives club systems, phone speakers and broadcast fold-downs.
- Producers turning a mono keys, guitar or synth part into stereo without a Haas echo.
What makes it different
- Mono loss in dB, per band. Not just a correlation needle: each band tells you how much of it disappears in mono, next to its input value.
- Phase Guard. One switch, and no band goes out of phase. It only takes away as much width as it needs to.
- Bass Mono with Recover Sides. Centre everything below a frequency you pick, and keep the energy of out-of-phase bass instead of throwing it away.
- Honest listening. Compare plays the input level-matched and phase-aligned; Delta plays only what WidthForge changes; an amber MONITORING banner shows whenever a listening mode is changing the output.
- Zero latency, light on CPU. No lookahead and no FFT in the audio path; under 1 % of one core at a 64-sample buffer.
- Bought once. No subscription, no iLok, no activation, no internet check.
